Porch Stories

Rather than single-handedly collecting stories and photographs, I want to rethink traditional oral history methods using two emerging online communities: Flickr, an online photo-sharing website and Twitter, a microblogging service. While I scoured many sites, such as YouTube, blogs, several social networks, I found Flickr and Twitter to have the largest wealth of photos and stories about porches.

How it Works

All of the content on this page is dynamically aggregated. The photos show the most recent submissions to the Porch Project Flickr group. The text displays the most recent messages filtered from Twitter. Feeding these two resources into this project provides a dynamic and organic snapshot of how we think about and use the porch. By nature, this project is ongoing.
